On our way back from Drake’s bay we looped around the Farallon Islands, some place I’ve wanted to see since high school. We saw puffins!

These are some pictures I took through binoculars.

These islands are sometimes called “The Devil’s Teeth”…

GOOSE NECK BARNACLES!

Weird orange not-lichen (mold -looking?) all over the rocks.

Inside the boat, we spent a lot of time performing some coffee magic with our Hario ginder and our moka pot.

They only let me play scrabble once, it was brutal.

I spent most of my nights with a flashlight a book, reading until the wee hours (which in boat time, was like, 10).

On the way to drakes bay, the light was phenomenal.

When we finally got to Drake’s bay it was shrouded in fog, haunting, and beautiful.

The Bay Bridge. We motored this entire day, through the Bay and out to Drake’, with the wind at our front.

Aaaand I’m still here. I spent (no joke) 5 hours doing some wiring in the boat today, which consisted mostly of waiting, staring at a wall, and/or reading until I was needed to thread a thing through a thing. We put one of the sails up (jib) today, and wound it up, ready for later… I am told we are leaving FOR REAL tomorrow. Up at 7, at the boat by 8:30, leaving by 9:30, and past the Golden Gate at 12:30 during the strongest ebb. Here’s hopin.

Spent a little time taking some pictures of things:

As you can see, we are well prepared.

And the sails… and putting up the jib.

So. Technically I am off sailing right now. Actually I am doing a lot of nothing until we actually leave, which is always “tomorrow”. So, tomorrow, I will be off sailing, for now I’ll be doing some more nothing!

This is what “nothing” looks like.

This is what lives under the docks. I spend a lot of time looking at this stuff. TUNICATES!!! (the little whitish tube things)

Driving home from the boat (which is in South City), the fog coming over the mountains. One of my favorite things.

Coming down into Half Moon Bay
